Sonoma County Stars of Tomorrow is a production of Redwood Empire Stereocasters (RES) and its affiliated radio stations. All sponsors, prize providers and other business entities supporting the contest are uninvolved in the planning and execution of the contest and have no influence over the selection of contest finalists and winners.
All contest entrants must be between the ages of 14 and 19 years old on April 1, 2020 and must be a current student attending a high school or being homeschooled within Sonoma County, California. Proof of age and school enrollment/residency may be required.
Children of present and past employees of RES are ineligible to enter the contest, as are children of employees of any other radio station in Sonoma County.
There is no registration fee to enter.
All contest entries will be made online and must include a performance video submission. Entry can be made at kzst.com, thebull937.com, thewolf.fm, thebeat.fm or jazzy991.com. Videos are required to be published online via YouTube, another service, a personal website, or any other publicly accessible online location with a url provided for hyperlink.
Online video submissions should be no longer than four minutes (4:00). Those going over the time limit may be disqualified.
RES reserves the right to remove any submissions that do not follow all of the rules and guidelines set forth here.
Entries in the following categories will be accepted:
Music: solo vocalist, instrumentalist, singing duos and trios (no drums)
Bands: three or more members (drummer required to be in the Band Category)
Online video submissions are due by 3:00 p.m. on April 30, 2020.
Entries containing offensive or violent content, vulgar language, drug influence, or any form of anti-social behavior deemed to be inappropriate by RES will be asked to resubmit a new or modified version or be disqualified from participating.
Up to ten submissions will be selected as finalists. Those finalists will be selected by a combination of popular vote via online voting over an approximate 10-day duration and input from RES station personnel. All finalists will be invited to compete in a Finals Event at which prizes will be awarded. Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, the forum and date of the finals event is undetermined.
Finalists will be notified at least 10 days prior to the finals event.
All finalists will be awarded a prize at the conclusion of the Finals Event with the First Place winner receiving a $5000 Grand Prize courtesy of Community First Credit Union and Runner-Up and Consolation Prizes provided by other sponsoring and supporting businesses. Winners are responsible for appropriate taxes associated with the winning of ANY prize.
All participants selected to compete in the Finals Event will be required to submit a description or demo of their finals performance for purposes of content review and approval and must also fill out a Minor Image Release Form and submit it to RES by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, regular mail to P.O. Box 100, Santa Rosa, CA 95402-0100 or in person at 3392 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA. Deadline to be announced.
Talents using pre-recorded music backup tracks for the Finals Event competition must submit their recordings in advance. Deadline to be announced. Email your tracks to email@example.com or mail a CD to P.O. Box 100, Santa Rosa, CA 95402-0100.
Any materials submitted past the deadlines may disqualify you from winning First Place. We will consider all situations independently and make a final decision based on information received.
Contestants competing at the Finals Event will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges. Each judge will be uniquely qualified to serve in this capacity based on their training and/or past experience within the field of artistic performance. The decisions of the judges are final.

Additions, modifications, adjustments, or changes to the rules and guidelines, including dates and timing for all aspects of the contest including the Finals Event, may occur without notice, warning, written consent, pre-approval or pre-announcements.
